For me, this is nothing short of a grand slam home-run, and I'd actually put this in the realm of "Hand of God" moment for the program. The reasons:

1) CPJ did this quickly and efficiently. Several programs in the near vicinity with loads more cash took longer and were forced to second and third (sometimes lower than that) choices. This was a well executed hire

2) We get a highly respected coach on many levels (Belichick, Parcels, etc). This will draw us talent hungry for a chance at the league and will garner us respect in general.

3) This leaves CPJ the flexibility to just coach the offense as Groh is familiar with head coaching and should be reliable as a coordinator, especially in his area of strength

4) Great hire to teach our current coaches so that if and when we need to replace Groh, we can choose from within (read Giff Smith)

5) We already have components of his defensive scheme red-shirting.

6) We somehow managed to keep all the components from the previous regime that we wanted to keep.

7) We get all of this for the price of NOTHING!!!! This doesn't cost us a single dime! Our D Coordinator is making more than most GOOD HEAD COACHES are currently making.

8) If it doesn't work out, we dump him after two years and lose NOTHING BUT TIME.

This is a freaking Grand Slam by any definition.Robespierre the Slender 1https://www.blogger.com/profile/01754968659130175662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8455109540491757683.post-79992123469689906282010-01-16T12:41:37.041-05:002010-01-16T12:41:37.041-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Robespierre the Slender 1https://www.blogger.com/profile/01754968659130175662noreply@blogger.com
