Some Notes & a little love.....

A few brief notes from the weekend/scrimmage, most of which we have covered in the past:
  • Will Jackson has replaced Nick McRae as the starting left guard. I suspected this battle would end up like this & I'm pleased Jackson has asserted himself.
  • Freshman who will play: Isaiah Johnson (who will start), Jeremiah Attaochu (#2 Will LB), BJ Bostic (special teams & specific packages), and Louis Young (#2 CB behind Mario Butler). The staff may choose to play safety Fred Holton on special teams because of his never ending desire to destroy people & small villages on kick coverage. Justin Moore looks to be handling kick-offs.
  • Rod Sweeting continues to push Dominique Reese at CB.
  • freshman NT Shawn Green is getting in better shape & has flashed some in practice & the scrimmage. CB Ryan Ayers & QB Synjyn Days continue to impress. Both will redshirt but the staff remains very positive about them
  • At this point, no one has been ruled out against South Carolina State due to injuries. Fantastic news!
We have greatly enjoyed Paul Myerberg's superb "countdown to football" blog Pre-Snap Read this summer. You can't help but be impressed by the research Myerberg does on each team & the depth to which he profiles them. We're very happy to note that today, Tech comes in at #11 in the countdown of all 120 FBS teams. We're also very happy that we were mentioned as a place where "Georgia Tech fans congregate." We appreciate the love & the great blog, Mr. Myerberg. The check is in the mail........

  1. Looking at Mr. Myerberg's top 25 (so far, he hasn't released 10-1) and I can't help but be impressed. A very intellegent and honest appraisal of football teams based on facts, not supposition.

  2. I'm excited to see RS FR Jackson and Finch, both members of PJ's first full recruiting class, pushing or surpassing older guys for playing time on the OL. Bodes very well for the future of the offense.
