Our Apologies....

for the lack of posts yesterday. The (almost) paying job intruded heavily on our day & rendered us ineffective. But we're back with some links & a few thoughts:
The Opelika Turnipseeds.....they abhor fake grass & love donuts....
  • "I never travel far without a little Big Star". Great lyrics & even better advice from '80's pop monsters The Replacements. They were referring of course to the Alex Chilton led Big Star, a band whose music & influence is hard to under-estimate. Chilton died yesterday at 59 & American music is not the same today. Chilton's raw guitar playing & dark lyrics inspired generations of musicians from the above named Replacements to REM, Husker Du, & even Cat Power. They were ground-breaking, raw, powerful, & a damn fine band who had an indelible influence on music as we know it today. If you haven't ever listened to them, do yourself a favor & seek out some Big Star. You won't be disappointed. We leave you with The Replacements tribute from 1987, the aptly titled "Alex Chilton". "Children by the millions scream for Alex Chilton..." R.I.P.........

I'm headed off to New York City for the weekend to sling some hash with the big boys so Frank is leading the charge. Enjoy.....-Hash

  1. Just curious......why do ya'll hate Bama so much? Don't get me wrong, I'm all about "fuck the SEC" but is there any particular reason?

  2. Nate,
It definitely sounds like we hate Bama from our posts but I promise that's not the case. I'm pretty neutral as far as Bama goes, if you want some Tech folks that hate Bama get someone from the Dodd era. As I'm sure you know, Bobby & Bear weren't exactly the best of friends. The biggest cheap shot in college football history aside, Bama is frankly just such an easy target & there are just too many opportunities to pass up. No hate for Bama here, but a healthy dose of opportunistic mockery.....
