- Tech picked up commitment number three for the class of 2011 last night as Monroe-Albany offensive lineman Bryan Chamberlain pledged to the Jackets. At 6'4" & 280 pounds, when we saw Chamberlain at last Saturday's scrimmage we thought he could easily add another 20# to his huge frame. An explosive player from the snap, Chamberlain projects as a tackle at Tech. Of note is that Chamberlain is relatively new to playing football as last season was his second in pads. As always, don't worry about the stars, just be happy we landed a high quality offensive lineman for the future......can you say upside?
- BayBay Thomas continues to rehab & hopes to run for scouts before the draft. Someone will be very happy they picked this guy....
- DrB of ShakintheSouthland continues his excellent series on defensive back play with a look at pass concepts as they relate to defensive back play. We're working on an article about pattern reading ourselves but realistically can't see it being any better & most likely considerably worse that DrB's. These guys have some of the best football content on the web & I highly recommend you check this series of posts out....
- From The Rumble Seat looks at our new 3-4 defensive line & what to expect. Nose tackle play will be key for us. Check out the insightful comments from In The Bleachers.....
- Not tired of actual football content (of which we provide very little, thank you very much)? UCLA blog Bruins Nation breaks down Cover 3 in a four part series of posts here, here, here, & here. This actually does relate back to Tech as we expect to see a good bit of Cover 3 this year from Groh. In fact, it was the only coverage we used in last Saturday's scrimmage. Get your knowledge on......(h/t EDSBS)
- Finally, Demetrius Jones has left the University of Cinicinnati. Who the hell is Demetrius Jones, you ask? Why young Mr. Jones was the Notre Dame QB who summarily transferred after Tashard Choice & Co. went up to South Bend & beat that ass 33-3. The memory of that day lives fresh in our mind & we can't help think that was Chan Gailey's finest hour at Tech. A little something to refresh your memory......
We're headed to practice this afternoon so look for a report tomorrow.....
