Rooting Interests, Week One......

Sweet Football Lovin'. Our journey through the desert has ended. The hour is nigh. Even the weather here in Atlanta seems to be cooperating. It is a most glorious day. So we thought with the season upon us we'd bring back a feature from last season & let everyone know who & what Frank & I will be keeping an eye on this weekend, coed asses not included. Sundresses, football, & brown liquor.......the reason the Pilgrims left England. Some things we'd like to see/will be rooting for this weekend:

Dwight Dasher is hosting a table at 7:30 on Thursday.....
  • Minnesota vs Middle Tennessee: Tim Brewster's seat is warm. But we don't care. Just want to see how MTSU will fare against a Big 10 team. Dwight Dasher will playing a $1500 buy-in satellite on Poker Stars at 7:30 for all those interested. At least we'll have some game film on MTSU......
  • Southern Miss vs. South Carolina: over/under on visor throws is something like 6 right now. Watching Steve Spurrier mind fuck Stephen Garcia has been both painful & rewarding this fall. At this point, Spurrier might just be acting out of spite or he might just have lost it. It will be interesting to see if Jaybo's younger brother, Connor, sees the field for the Cocks. The collision of cultures between Southern Mississippi & low country South Carolina could be both culinarily rewarding & an educational disaster......
  • Pitt vs, Utah: Dion Lewis + Wannstache = sexy football man love....deny it as you might, on the opening night of college football, it will be like you're a woman on a date with Tom Selleck & Don Cornelius at the same time......You can't help but be cast under their manly spell....Watch the moves.....
  • UCONN vs. Michigan: Rich Rodriguez needs to be doing real estate infomercials on late night TV. Randy Edsall can help him get there by leading the Huskies to a victory. Michigan QB Denard Robinson looks like he's been shot out of a cannon on every play he's so fast. Randy Edsall coached at Tech & isn't Rich Rod. And no one deserves a good season as much as Edsall after what he endured last year. Go Huskies.....
  • LSU vs. UNC: guffaww, guffaw, snicker, belly laugh.....A battle of heavyweights in the "I'm probably not wearing this color next year" division. Les Miles is a chronomatic genius. Butch Davis will look resplendent on the Carolina sideline in his best Jackie Sherrill "if you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'"duds. LSU's Gary Crowton is in the running for the "Pat Nix Offensive Coordinator of the Year" award, given annually to the OC who squanders the most talent & fields an inept offense. We'll know if he's a contender by the number of draw plays he calls on 3rd & 12. At least the expectations have dwindled for UNC so it shouldn't hurt the ACC's on-field rep.
The Pirate will be sorely missed this year.......
  • SMU vs. Texas Tech: oh, what could have been? Had Mike Leach not packed up the Pirate ship & gone home this game would have been epic. June Jones squaring off with The Pirate? The War & Peace of football games. Seven hours, 134 pass attempts, 1254 passing yards.....Damn you Craig James......
Virginia Polytechnic and State University: Go you fightin' turkeys!!!! We NEED this game as a conference. Not much more to it.....

I was planning on saving that but it's far too good......

What games or players are you anxiously awaiting this weekend?

  1. I am honestly intrigued most by the LSU UNC game. If certain players are suited and ready (damn the torpedos, FULL SPEED AHEAD!!!) fashion , I will have both infinetely more respect for Butch Davis as goes down in flames, and a greasy feeling in the pit of my stomach for what he has done to that program and our conference. If not, be prepared for a blowout.
