- Interesting to see Vandy's defensive scheme against us as it was very different than any we've faced before. The 'Dores lined up 2 linebackers to the wideside of the field & tried to take away Nesbitt & the perimeter. A novel approach as it forced us away from the triple option (we only ran the TO about 30% of the time, the least we've ever run it) and into other series (belly, midline, counter/freeze options). But it's a "pick-your-poison" scenario now for opposing defenses as Dwyer ran wild (22 carries, 186 yards, 3 TD)....
The Diesel ran over, around, & through Vandy on Halloween...
- True freshman Izaan Cross is pushing to start at defensive end. Kid's a beast. We've tried everybody at free safety & still haven't found a solution. Cooper Taylor is done for the year, Domenique Reese is banged up with a shoulder injury, & Corey Earls had a rough night. Mario Edwards came in & settled things down & will get the start on Saturday against Wake
- Stephen Hill is back at practice after missing the game with the flu
- Austin Barrick is on crutches but says he'll be ready for Wake. If he can't go, Phil Smith capably fills in at OT. No problem here...
On a grander scale:
- Iowa is all "smoke & mirrors". #4? Not a chance...so who exposes the Hawkeyes?
Iowa Football 2009: Catch the Magic.....& the disappearing act...
- And I thought Saint Richt was the most religious guy in Jacksonville this weekend...
Brandon Spikes got religious on Washaun Ealy this weekend with his "eye-for-an-eye" defensive scheme...
